The Importance of a Landing Page: A Lesson from Launching an AI Medical Assistant

Almost a month ago, I embarked on an exciting journey to launch AI José Gregorio, an AI Medical Assistant. I proudly introduced this innovative solution to my network using my blog and various social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. The reception was phenomenal and the positive feedback was overwhelming. However, after a few weeks in the market, I encountered an unexpected challenge.

There were people that couldn't use the app because they didn't know that there was a text input behind the language selector (problem that was solved after adding the meta lang tag). This little detail, could lead to the lost of many potential users in my target market.

As the AI tool started to gain traction beyond my personal network, new adopters who had no previous knowledge about the project began to use it. The problem was that the link I shared redirected them directly to the chat screen. Without any prior introduction or context, these users found themselves struggling to navigate and use the application effectively.

The information and instructions about AI José Gregorio were all detailed in my blog, but these new users had no way of knowing that. This led me to reflect on how I can bridge this gap and make the application more user-friendly. This is the reason why I decided to create a well-designed landing page.

What is a Landing Page?

A landing page is a standalone web page, created specifically for a marketing or advertising campaign. It's where a visitor "lands" after they click on a link in an email, or ads from Google, Bing, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or similar places on the web.

Unlike web pages, which typically have many goals and encourage exploration, landing pages are designed with a single focus or goal, known as a call to action, in this case use the App effectively.

Why is a Landing Page Important?

Maybe my short story answers this question, but let's review each point deeper.

First Impressions Matter

A landing page is often the first point of contact between your product and a prospective user. First impressions are crucial, and a well-designed landing page can set the right tone from the get-go. As a chat, people entered knowing nothing about the product, about their capabilities or utilities, but with a landing page now they can know what is the app about.

The title indicates the purpose of the app, then a brief description of it, and a CTA to try it or download it

Clear Communication

Landing pages allow you to present your product's value proposition in a clear and concise way. They help users understand what your product is, why it's valuable, and how to use it. It reduces confusion and helps users feel more comfortable with your tool, leading to increased usage and engagement.

In the landing page, I started telling the user what the product is and how it works. Then I showed them its value and why it's a vital resource by presenting its features, and finally a FAQs section to reduce confusion and false expectations by the users.

Increased Conversions

I haven't had chance to prove this, but in theory by providing users with clear information and a straightforward pathway to use your product, landing pages can significantly increase conversion rates. The hypothesis is simple, before I was delivering separated links and post about the product, now everything will be in the same link, same page, so users outside my network can use the app without seeing my previous posts.

The Way Forward with José Gregorio

Recognizing these benefits, I decided to put my frontend skills to work and design a landing page for AI José Gregorio. This new page will provide an overview of the AI Medical Assistant, highlight its key features, and guide users on how to use it.

I believe that this addition will not only help new users to understand the application but also contribute to attracting more users in the long run.

The journey of launching AI José Gregorio has been a learning curve, and this experience has underscored the importance of a landing page. As creators, we must continually think from a user's perspective and strive to make their journey as seamless as possible. After all, a well-informed user is a happy user!
