The Day I Became a Firefighter
There is a myth that if you left fire without control for a minute it becomes uncontrollable. One day, I became a firefighter by accident 🚒
It was during a massive blackout in Venezuela back in 2019. My mom use to had candles everywhere to keep the darkness at bay. One night, my sister and I were in the living room when we heard a loud explosion from our parents' room. We rushed in to find the nightstand on fire, with flames quickly spreading to everything around it 🔥
In a panic, I yelled for my sister to find the extinguisher as I started shouting "fire, fire!" But as I stood there, watching the flames grow bigger and bigger, I realized that we were on our own. I had to take action 🧯
So, I quickly scanned the room for something to smother the fire with. And there, in the corner of my eye, I saw a thick sheet lying on the bed. Without hesitation, I grabbed it and started to cover the flames, depriving them of oxygen. It took some effort, but finally, the fire went out 👨🚒
Proud of my heroic efforts, I turned to my sister and said, "We are safe" But as we surveyed the damage, we realized that the smoke had blackened the walls and ceiling, leaving our parents' room looking like a scene from a disaster movie 💀
Lesson learned: when it comes to candles, always be careful, and never underestimate the power of a thick sheet 🛏️
