Operation Swiftification: The day I created a Squad of Swifties

Operation Swiftification: The day I created a Squad of Swifties

Once upon a time, the planets and the fates, and all the stars aligned. Back to December in my third-year English class we were assigned to a new task: selecting a song in groups of five and presenting it in front of everyone 🌃

It was looking like a contests. Everyone was looking to present their favorite song, it was not a correct moment to be delicate. With the help of my best friend, we fought against the other three members to select our song, determined to make our choice resonate evermore 🚀

I really wanted to present "You Belong With Me", no better love story than it, but others wanted songs with more style by Eminen, Imagine Dragons, etc. It definitely was a holy ground. Every day was a battle, it was though to convince my team. I was complicated, I was irrational. Fortunately, they were not mean. The bad blood between us ended up in the same room with the selection of "I Knew you were a Trouble", song I proposed to gather the likes of everyone in the group 🎶

We practiced our speech and learned about Taylor Swift, her life, her career, and all the walls she crashed through without leaving a single blank space. My teammates were initially hesitant. However, after several days of meeting and listening to the songs over and over again, the sparks flew, and they were connected by the invisible string that creates the Taylor Swift's lyrics 🪢

And the moment of the speech arrived, but they were speechless. Their cheeks were turning red, and that's the moment I knew the moment was mine. Presenting our names, I was shining like fireworks, enchanted to present my favorite artist at the moment, the song started playing and the whole place become shimmer 🌟

Seeing the faces of the class, my group started to be happy and confused at the same time, they were ready for it and started to talk about music and love, discovering that romance is not dead, and being a lover doesn't make you less man 💘

I think they will remember this moment forever and always, because that task represents the beginning of their swiftie era. In the future haters gonna hate Taylor, and her reputation couldn't get worse, but I'm sure they never stopped to be swifties and let her picture to burn, because swifties knows that in a black and white world, you can decide to be screaming colour, all you have to do is stay 🎨

My evangelization era doesn't end that day. 2 years later nothing has changed and on my senior year we had to sing a song a capella in front of the class. Fearless I sang "All Too Well", 6 minutes that I know people wanted to skip due my treacherous singing. However, now the song is popular, I think the most important single by Taylor Swift, I bet they think about me when they hear it 🎧

This story will be continued ⏭️
