DEVLog - March

Hello again, everyone! Welcome back. March just flew by, didn't it? It feels like just yesterday I was writing the February update. This past month was definitely a busy one, packed with some major steps forward on several projects. Honestly, it felt pretty great to cross some big things off the list.

Ready to hear what’s been cooking? Let's jump in.

Scan Documents is Officially Out There!

Remember Scan Documents? The little app I started building because I needed to digitize a bunch of physical papers? Well, the big news for March is... it's officially launched! 🎉

Last month, I mentioned I was too close, just ironing out some wrinkles. The main hurdles were making sure it played nice with browsers like Safari and Firefox, and getting a reusable feedback system in place. Happy to report those are sorted and Scan Documents has been released!

So, what does it do? Simple: scan your documents using your phone or computer camera (or upload images), clean them up, and turn them into nice, readable PDFs. Perfect for saving certificates, receipts, notes, and more.

Now that it's live, I’d genuinely love for you to give it a try. Let me know what you think! I will really appreciate your feedback.

The next steps are polishing some things received from your feedback, creating the marketing website, and finishing the API to integrate it with the app and starting the second stage of the project: Dev tools and automations.

IMG Processing Got Its First Paid User

Next up, IMG Processing – my handy API for all things image-related. While February was about strengthening the foundation (testing, testing, testing!), March saw a cool new feature added and a new customer.

It has been an amazing journey, and I want to thank everyone to make this happen. I promise I will continue working to reward your effort.

On the other hand, I’ve added a new endpoint called extract-formatted-text.

Extract Formatted Text - IMG Processing
Extract the text from an image in desired format.

What’s that about? Well, imagine you have a picture of a document, a whiteboard, or even a sign. This endpoint lets you pull the text directly out of that image. You can ask for it as plain text, or as Markdown. Why Markdown? It helps keep some of the original structure, like headings or lists.

This fits right into the goal of making IMG Processing a go-to tool for developers who need image powers in their apps without the headache. You can find the main project here:

My Website Got a Major Update!

Okay, this one felt big. Remember last month I mentioned my personal website was feeling a bit old? It was built on Nuxt 2, and honestly, updating it or adding new things (especially for better search visibility) was becoming a real chore.

Well, I did it! The migration and redesign are complete.

I moved the whole thing over to Astro. Why Astro? It's modern, fast, and just makes building content-focused sites like a portfolio or blog feel much smoother.

The results?

  • It looks way better (at least, I think so!). Cleaner design, hopefully easier to navigate.
  • It's faster. Pages should load quicker now. Nobody likes waiting, right?
  • Better SEO. Under the hood, it’s set up much better for search engines like Google to understand what the site is about.

Let me know if you spot anything weird, or if you just like the new vibe!

What’s Next?

So, what does April look like?

  • Scan Documents: Mostly keeping an eye on things, listening to feedback, and fixing any little bugs that pop up now that it's out in the wild.
  • IMG Processing: Probably focus on documentation for the new endpoint and guides to enhance SEO and usability. I will also start with monthly email marketing updates to increase conversion.
  • Website: Just enjoying the new setup for now! Maybe I'll finally start thinking seriously about moving this blog over there later this year. We’ll see, the only thing that keeps me here is the newsletter, but probably I will sort that by integrating with Resend or a similar tool.
  • SignatureAPI: More building, more improvements!

It feels good to have pushed these projects forward in March. Launching something always brings a mix of excitement and nervousness.
