DEVLog - August
DEVLog August 2025. Publishing scan documents on Product Hunt Aftermath. IMG processing new landing page, and more...

Hello everyone! Another month has reached its end and with it we are now at the 9th month of the year. Many things has happened and I really happy to come back here and tell you what are the latest updates in my projects/
Scan Documents
In July, I released Scan Documents on Product Hunt, and this month was focused on marketing and publishing the site in many powerful sites. The result? I think I got shadow banned by Google 😅

I don't know what was wrong with my strategy, but it is obvious Google's bot didn't like it. I didn't do anything strange though, just promoting my site on X, Peerlist, and others.
This month I got 100% more users than the whole lifetime of the product. I noticed many users reached the checkout session, however no one has subscribed yet. But since this number was so high, I decided to apply some changes on IMG Processing to see if I can reproduce the same behavior there.

The main product update was adding an straightforward onboarding flow for users. Now is easier to get the API Key and execute the first request with curl or Postman. In fact, the Postman Collection was reviewed, and the publisher account was verified by Postman at the end of August.

Anyway, the product is almost reaching a sweet spot on features, I will continue to improve some small things, to be the best tool for document digitization and processing.
IMG Processing
And IMG Processing is not behind the updates. My API to process images got some frontend changes that I expect to increase the conversions.

The first change of the month was related to the landing page. I enhanced the hero section by adding an endpoint and its response with a call to action that redirects to the dashboard. With this change I expect more sign ups.

The dashboard now contains two direct links to the playground and the Postman Collection. On the other hand, now users can get live API Keys and get up to 25 free paid requests to test the API at its full potential. With this change, I expect to increase conversions and enhance the developer experience.
This month I plan to see if I can add more models for image generation. The problem is that they are way expensive than the pricing of the API, so I have to find a way to make them available without burning my money.

Privacy Policy Review
One project that was left behind for a while was my tool to automate the process of reviewing privacy policies by attorneys. This process is required by many organizations that want to be compliant with SOC2 or ISO, but a few of them don't have a legal team to review them and must contact a lawyer that usually charges hourly rates about the four digits.

The main change was finally adding the terms of service and privacy policy to the site. It was kind of funny to be a service to review privacy policies, and not having an privacy policy. That changed and now it's finnally available.

Another important change is the start of th dashboard development. With it I expect to provide an enhanced experience over the experience I provide using right now by using a Typeform. This month I expect to continue working on this dashboard to see if I can release it as soon as possible.

AI José Gregorio
I cannot write this post without mention the shutdown of AI José Gregorio. This medical chatbot I implemented a few years ago reached some popularity the last quarter, but it increased the cost in a way I didn't expect.

At the moment of the death, 32 users were using the app almost in a daily basis, but the last weeks an attack from France forced me to stop providing the service. They were creating 2k messages per day. To be honest I was able to fix that, but I decided it didn't worth the headache. I didn't have a way to monetize this project, and with many chatbots like Gemini and Copilot that are free, I have no reason to keep this project alive.
It hurts because this project was my baby. One of my first projects as Indie Hacker. I worked for hours, days to deliver something useful to humanity. But, I have to be realistic, this project was doomed and I just didn't want to accept it.
If you was an user, I really want to thank you for your support. I hope you are able to find a nice replacement, and expect you to support me in my new projects.
SignatureAPI
New customers where lower than I expected, but SignatureAPI kept the growth of last month.
At product, I was focused on adding new features like document uploads and PDF encryption, features that now are available and public in the documentation.
What's Next?
Alright, looking ahead to September, here's what I'm hoping to tackle:
- Scan Documents:
- Features: Enhance existing features.
- Marketing: Create more pages to see if I can recover the Google positioning.
- IMG Processing:
- Features: I will try to add new Image generation models.
- Privacy Policy Review:
- Features: Try to finish the dashboard.
- New projects:
- There is a new project B2C that expect promoting in the next weeks.
Let's see how it goes.
